IT'S A BOY!!

Here is the first real picture of our new baby boy. Isn't he just cute! No it isn't an alien!!! May is now 20 weeks and 1 day (as of 3/13/06). We will get the "official" report in a few days.

Since we know it is a boy (no you can't see it from this picture) the real question is....what is his name. How about a vote.
The rules are:
1. Name is one syllable (like Keith)
2. First name must start with a 'K'. All the boys name in May's family start with a 'K'.
3. First name must be western & the middle name must be Asian/Chinese
4. We are thinking of Keith Lee Forshee'
5. Vote a) if you like our choice of name and b) the name that you like
6. To vote click on the 'comments' below

Hey Karl,
Glad to you think it is a boy. Hope you are right. Keith Lee Forshee doesn't flow too well. Try Kevin Lee Forshee. When you need to emphisize their name Kevin is easier to get a strong point acrossed. You know when your mom said Karl .... Forshee get back here right now you knew what she ment. Good LUCK Deciding. Wow! We are totally happy for you guys. I guess we could use another boy to balance out the cousins. Keith---hmmm...it's ok, but I have to agree wtih George M I kind of like the name Kyle better. I think it flows better with Lee, but hey it is ultimately up to you guys. If we think of something as a family we will let you know. Jyme

Hey Karl,

Here are a few possibilities:

Kim Chi Forshee,
Kriss Chen Forshee, or maybe Kent 杰克 Forshee.

Anyway, good luck on the name search :) Good to hear from you guys!

Hi May & Karl,
Congrats on the boy news:)
I think Keith Lee sounds too much like Keithly. Kyle Lee is hard to say when their in trouble:)
My vote on first names would be Kent but not with Lee. Would need to be something else. That's my 2 cents. Anyway, whatever you choose we'll love him just the same. Ahhhh!

Hey Karl and May,

Since your last name is two syllables and you prefer a one syllable first name, the middle name needs to have at least two syllables in order to flow nicely. Most Chinese names are one syllable, so this is a challenge! I agree with Julie P. that putting Keith Lee together (or any one syllable first name with Lee as a second name) causes it to sound like a single name ending in -ly. (BTW, is James P. a comedian or what?)
I'm going to do some research and get back to you.

Hey May and Karl,

Why not Karl Lee Forshee Jr. Congrat on the Boy and I like some of your comments. Both of you get to deside. So far I like the names you have come up with, and like it has already been said we will love your boy no matter what name you deside.

Your sis,
Sheila

Praise the Lord! It's a boy! Hmm I like the name Kyle (handsome)but not with Lee as it sounds like Kylie. How about Kingsley (victorious prince)or Kris (follower of Christ? I suggest that you put May's surname Chong as the middle name.

Hello blessed May, hi beloved Karl

I am very Chinese, so I would use 'han yu pin yin', e.g. instead of Lee, use Li for 'Li-Liang' which means Strength. I wouldn't use Lee because it is also a Chinese surname.

I like the name KEITH but find that the Chinese name which follows should be 2-syllables in order that KEITH flows well with Forshee. If you want to stick to your one-syllable rule and the western name Keith, then it would be:-
1. Keith Liang Forshee ('Ming-Liang' means bright)
2. Keith Cong Forshee ('Cong-Ming' means intelligent)
3. Keith Ming Forshee ('Cong-Ming', 'Ming-Liang' - intelligent, bright)
4. Keith Kwang Forshee ('Kwang-Ming' used for bright future)
5. Keith Shing Forshee ('Shing-Li' means victory)
6. Keith Li Forshee ('Li-Liang' means strength), although I should say Kenneth Li Forshee flows better.

If you want to keep the chinese middle name LI, then the western name should be 2-syllables in order that the name flows better, e.g.:-
- Kenneth Li Forshee
- Kevin Li Forshee

Otherwise, I have to say that KEN goes better than Keith with the one-syllable chinese middle name. You will see what I mean:-
- Ken Li Forshee
- Ken Liang Forshee
- Ken Cong Forshee
- Ken Ming Forshee
- Ken Kwang Forshee
- Ken Shing Forshee

Keith means forest and Ken means good looking.

So there you are, my thoughts above because I am also very excited for you - what a joyous ocassion! GOD is really, really very good and faithful to you. HE is a good GOD. To JESUS be all the glory!

..... continuation....

and/or..

- Ken Ji Forshee (Ji-Xiang which means auspicious) (might sound Japanese though- Ken-ji...Kenji...)

hahah, i am just having some fun here. never mind if you don't pick any of my suggestions. I am having fun.... because expecting a baby is supposed to be joyous and fun, isn't it? :)

Thanks for sharing your joy with me.

Shalom.

Hay Karl & May, this is super-good news ! We'll have to celebrate this in about 1 month when we see each other in the US... God bless (and, by the way, get as much sleep as you 2 can get now; based on the experience I'm going through for the last 5 weeks :-)

It has been intersting to read what everyone thinks. I have been trying to think of a good K name that is two syllables that could be one. (Because many people mentioned that 2 syllables would flow easier) What about Kristopher? You could call him Kris. Or as Mel says--don't worry so much about if the middle and first name go together well or not--how often do you really say them together. Just some more thoughts for you. Love, Jyme

We vote for Kevin Lee or Karl Chan.

In Heidi's culture, the first born gets named after the father.
