Malaysian Crib

For those of us from the western hemisphere this is a very strange looking contraption. A medieval torture device? Automatic big boy diaper changer?

NO...

it's a nice sarong sleeper. The little guy sleeps soundly as it reminds him of the cramped world he just came from.

With this he almost never makes a fuss as he floats hanging from 2 sturdy springs. This means his loving parents also get a good nights rest. Except for when he is hungry, cold, frightened, desires to be cuddled, just filled his britches, cries just to remind mommy & daddy that they love him, etc & etc.

The miracle

Here is the story of the birth. As I'm sure you know, May came to her home country of Malaysia first week of June. Karl was supposed to arrive in Malaysia July 16, 2 week before the due date. However, since May was feeling the Baby might be coming early, Karl moved his ticket up to July 12. But then May become borderline with her blood pressure (hypertension). Thursday evening July 6, May tells Karl on the phone the doctor wants the baby out any time since her blood pressure still border line (~130/98) so better come to Malaysia ASAP. The earliest Karl could fly out of Guam was Sunday July 9 because all earlier flights were fully booked. Thus he arrived Sunday evening at 11 PM at May's parent's home. The following Monday morning at 8:30 AM Karl & May went to the hospital for check up. Her Blood pressure was 143/109. Dr. Said baby has to come out today. So we checked in & got the nicest room available. The baby had not dropped down yet so she was not dilating. No choice but go through C-section. Halfway through the operation Dr. discovered the umbilical cord was wrapped around babies neck. This is why he had not dropped. It hadn't shown up on the ultra-sound due to May's water retention. Needless to say, Dr. was able to take care of the problem. Beautiful little Kevin Ian Forshee was born.

Dr. said if it wasn't for the hypertension that necessitated the immediate delivery, major complications or worse from the wrapped umbilical cord would've been seen. Praise God for answering everyone's prayer of a safe delivery.
